one man's journey...

Over a year ago a young man with strange glasses and athletic tape over his Chuck Taylors walked into TSAC to participate in the Reebok CrossFit Opens. This 22 year old athletic hopeful had been CrossFitting in his garage with the hopes of perhaps making it to the big show. What he didn't know (or care about) was that the body actually needed rest and that a max effort WOD was probably not possible while doing 4 WODs a day. This error left him just out of reach of the 2011 Regionals...

This young spry man learned from his mistakes during the 2011 Open and worked diligently on technique, becoming near picture perfect with all movements embraced by CrossFit. He pushed himself to the ends of the fatigue and learned to take time off when he needed to...

After a long year of training - the 2012 Opens was completed and our very own Andy Paik found himself sitting in one of the Regional qualifying spots. I had the great fortune to watch Andy put his heart and soul into a series of WODs designed for the 200 lb club. Not only were the WODs challenging but Andy pushed through a recent back injury with hopes of accomplishing his personal goals.

The first two WODs were met and completed with awesomeness, however during third WOD on the second day Andy dislocated his thumb - leaving him pretty beat up. While he was able to participate in the 4th WOD, the third and final day was just not an option. I'd like to congratulate Andy on a great performance and an even better year. You set out to make it to Regionals and you did it. While misfortune met you in the process, it was still an amazing journey! Here's to next year...

In addition I'd also like to thank all the members who made the long drive out to support Andy. The support was greatly appreciated.
