I was finally at a point of where I knew it was time for a change.  I had just turned 34, had a young family, and was not satisfied with my physical abilities.  I'm at a point in my life where I'm working 10 hour days with an hour commute (one way) and I didn't have the time to commit to a regular workout routine.  After both of my children were born, my wife did a great job at losing her baby weight where as I had just seemed to be getting heavier.  I'd done P90X and Insanity and although I did find them to be good programs, I needed more.  I needed the "NEXT" level of training.  I'd heard that crossfit was a great work out program that was like P90X on steroids.  So I had the motivation and drive to make a change but I didn't know where or how to make it.

One day while meeting a colleague for coffee I saw a business card attached to a message board at the local Starbucks.  The main thing that drew my attention to the card was "CROSSFIT" written at the top.  I took down the telephone number and thought I owed it to my wife, children, and myself to at least make the phone call to gather some more information.

I talked to Matt Wessels who invited me to come down and try the Crossfit program to see if it was a fit for me.  From the moment I stepped into Crossfit TSAC I knew this was the place that would help me reach my fitness goals.  Matt was SUPER friendly and did a great working with me to make me feel comfortable with the WOD (work out of the day).  Although the program is challenging and pushes me more than P90X ever did, Matt adjusted the work out specifically for my needs which made them possible to achieve.  Knowing that Matt has such an extensive background in kinesiology was a huge plus.  That alone gave me the confidence that I was working with the right trainer.  All of the other "Crossfitters" I've met have been really nice and encouraging (especially when I need the extra push).  From athletes to amateurs, the range of fitness runs the gamut.  We all work together to get the WOD done.

If you are looking for a place to that will help you achieve your physical fitness goals, I would HIGHLY recommend taking the leap and trying a class.  YOU CAN DO THIS, ALL IT TAKES IS A FIRST STEP!!!

If you want a totally kick-ass workout that makes you test your physical and mental limits, this is the place. Owner/Coach Matt and his other coaches will guide you to a whole new level of your physical abilities while also watching you VERY carefully to make you sure that you are doing everything in the proper form and technique. They are extremely patient and supportive, while explaining the purpose for each movement.

The awesome thing is that as soon as you're done, you feel like a total rockstar, many times accomplishing more than you ever thought you could. It doesn't matter what level you are, you are exactly at the level you need to be. You will only improve under the TSAC coaches.

The atmosphere is very encouraging and friendly.  The gym or "box" (that's what they call them in CrossFit) is super spacious, clean and organized. There's plenty of equipment (sometimes I feel like I'm at a playground and I could play on/with everything all day!), and the coaches are truly the best. Parking is free and there's lots of it (how often do you hear that in LA?).

I've been to some other CF gyms - which will remain unnamed - that lack the professionalism or provide the kind of guidance that I would want from a gym.

My only issue is that I need to get my butt in there more.

I am the epitome of a "couch potato-to-CrossFit" gal! After I popped out two kids back-to-back it was time for me to take care of myself. I was never an athlete. Never will be one. But my 30lb weight loss doing CF aint too shabby. CF workouts are intense and at times kicks your butt! But that's what we need to succeed and push ourselves farther. I have an appreciation for TSAC because Coach Matt is not only super nice and supportive but he's got the education (bachelors and masters degrees in kinesiology) to back up everything he teaches you. The staff, coaches and members of TSAC are like a big family ready to accept you for who you are and where you're at physically and help you excel to new heights!! Drop in for a free workout and try it!!

I never ever thought in my life that I would be able to do the things that I have accomplished at Crossfit.  I was quite intimidated by the entire concept as I had been going to the 24 hour fitness for years!

I started with the Evolutions program with my sister, which is 1 on 1 training with Matt, the owner.   I met him and I was hooked.  As a former teacher, I appreciated the way that he explained the movements and the reasoning behind what we were doing.  Matt is extremely patient and encouraging which I felt was most needed when I did my first class/WOD.  Since then, my sister and I haven't looked back.

To date, I am able to deadlift 195 lbs and I have shocked myself with my progress and ability to finish every time.  The members are so encouraging and everyone is super friendly.  There is no one there who doesn't cheer you on til the end of the most fierce workout.  What I love most about CF is that you never know what you are going to get--some days are easy and other days seems impossible, but somehow the coaches and fellows CFs are there to get you through it.  Although I complain about my soreness or have pushed myself so hard that even water isn't appealing, I continue to go back like a sick ass pup!  I have to admit that if it weren't for Matt and Suzie (his wife), I probably wouldn't build CrossFit into my life as I do now.

The facility is clean and well equipped--even has the "little girl bar" for beginners which is where I started.  Every workout can be modified for injuries, fitness level and tenacity.  I will never go back to a globo gym again--how can i?   I have never been pushed as I have at TSAC.  Try it out and I promise you too, will become a sick puppy like me!  :)

I just started CrossFit last month and I love it! I had been a YMCA member for 5 years, going almost 7 days a week with minimal results. I heard about CrossFIt last year through a family member, so I Google'd local affiliates and found CrossFit TSAC! I'm really competitive and have always been involved in sports although not on an intense level. I found that CrossFit is for everyone who wants to get fit and have fun doing it! The environment at CrossFit TSAC is outstanding. The coaches are intelligent and encouraging, the members are friendly and fun, and the facility is top notch. You can't find a support system like this anywhere else. Each workout presents me with a new challenge and I find myself looking forward to tackling the next new thing. Its only been a month but I am definitely seeing real results!!

I've tried all forms of exercise regiments from a home gym, to posh boutique gyms, to video programs and Crossfit Torrance (TSAC) is the only thing that has been able to get me back into shape.  I received a TSAC flier and since it was right across the street from my house, I decided to give it a try.  I had a few reservations about going because Crossfit gyms can seem intimidating and the fact that I have a lingering shoulder injury, but the minute I talked to Matt (owner/trainer) on the phone I knew I had to check this place out.  From the moment I stepped into TSAC, EVERYONE was friendly and helps to push you towards meeting your goals.  There are no cliques at TSAC and it really does feel like a big family.  Matt and his staff will help modify the workouts if you are unable to do the prescribed workout program.  They are very knowledgeable and genuinely want to help you reach your fitness goals.  I highly recommend Crossfit TSAC to anyone at any fitness level (at any age) who is looking to get into the best shape of their life.

I was in a workout rut. Hadn't been able to find anything to keep my interest in quite a while. I had tried regular gyms, had been a member of 24 Hour Fitness where I paid my monthly dues & went once a month, if that. I had tried personal training but that became too expensive. Then I noticed the incredible body transformation of one of my friends.  I asked him to help me out and he said "You should try Crossfit". I was a little intimidated since I'm neither athletic nor coordinated and I'm overweight. I didn't think I'd be able to keep up with a place where elite athletes train.  But I searched for a Crossfit in my area, stumbled upon TSAC and sent an e-mail to Matt.  He responded quickly & was so friendly. He invited me down to the gym to try Crossfit out and I must say from that first day, I felt right at home. No matter your fitness level, you can adjust the Crossfit WOD (workout of the day) to your level. Not only that, but all of the members are so friendly & encouraging, they make you want to keep coming back & keep challenging yourself to improve your strength, stamina, endurance & even gymnastic abilities!  I feel so blessed to have found not only a great place to work out, but a "family" of people who are constantly working on improving themselves while encouraging everyone else to challenge themselves & continue to improve. And I finally found a place that, while it kicks my ass every time I go, makes me want to keep coming back! I HIGHLY recommend Crossfit at TSAC!!!!

TSAC is a great crossfit to workout at. The facilities are fantastic. There is plenty of space and equipment for all.

The people there are so friendly. You'll feel like family from the moment you get there.

Class are small so coaching is very personal and they do such a great job!

If you are looking for a different type of workout or want step up your current, TSAC is a great place to do that!

I have been doing CrossFit for almost 2 years now and at TSAC since they opened in October.  CrossFit has got me in the best shape of my life.  CrossFit TSAC is full of friendly and encouraging people. Matt is one of the most knowledgeable coaches around.  His workouts are designed to be fun and challenging no matter what your fitness level is.  I was preparing for a competition and he was able to increase my deadlift max by 50 pounds in one month.

On October 30, 2010 I made one of the best decisions of my life thus far: I walked through the doors at Crossfit TSAC and haven't looked back since. I have been an athlete for the better part of my life, from t-ball to Div.1 Volleyball...I can honestly say I have never enjoyed participating in any type of  work-out more than I do now. TSAC has become like a 2nd home to me, I find myself talking about it to anyone & everyone, bragging like a proud parent and most importantly looking forward to the next workout! I have had all kinds of coaches/trainers for every sport I've ever participated in, but in all honestly I feel that Matt and the other coaches are the most knowledgeable, helpful and supportive staff I've been a part of. Just when you've thought 'that WOD (workout of the day) seemed impossible', the coaches are right beside you to help complete the task at hand...right beside you cheering/coaching you the entire way. I recommend this gym to anyone & everyone: tall, small, skinny, overweight & out-of-shape...TSAC starts your from scratch and helps mold/point your life in the right direction: both physically & mentally! If you can believe in it, TSAC can help you achieve it :)

I'm a naturally competitive person and love sports, so when CrossFit started making a buzz, I did my homework on each of the gyms popping up around the South Bay. I wanted a good workout, minus the SouthBay meatheads and cliques. My first WOD with Matt (he's the owner) and I have been hooked. I've been travelling quite a bit and have dropped in at other CrossFit gyms from San Francisco to Vegas to Orange County, but none have been as supportive and fun as TSAC. Regardless if you're an experienced athlete or new to exercise, its a lot of fun & the other members are great!

This is a great Crossfit box made by amazingly friendly people.  I've been going to this box (for about 4 months now and it was the greatest decision i've ever made. I have been an athlete all of my life and I was looking for a different work out.  I asked the trainer questions and he had answered every one of them.  As soon as I stepped in there, it felt very family-like, everyone knows one another.  The gym members and the trainers are really friendly and inviting, which is important because Crossfit can be intimidating.  Crossfit pushes you to your limit and it's great to have people with you as you get to your limit and look over edge; sometimes to push up to it, other times it's to stop you from falling over it but, they are there. Everyone is so supportive.  The space itself is small but well equipped with everything you could need for a Crossfit WOD and the staff runs the workouts pretty smoothly. If find myself looking forward to going back and getting my ass kicked by the workouts. I love working out at TSAC and I am slowly giving up on going to the globo gym.  If you want to meet powerhouse athletes and extremely knowledgeable coaches, come into TSAC.  You won’t regret it, I didn’t.

Love, Love, Love CrossFit TSAC! Everyone is so friendly! I had never done CrossFit until I tried it at TSAC. I feel like I can't get enough. Such a great workout. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging! Great trainers! I have brought several friends with me and they love the place too. I would recommend CrossFit TSAC to everyone. CrossFit TSAC is the most time-effective, reasonable, long-term commitment anyone can make who is interested in living a healthy, fit life! In just a few workouts, I am already getting stronger and more toned. The trainers and members are supportive and encouraging. Amazing work out with great people. Everyone is so supportive. Even when you finish last everyone is there to cheer you on. How can you not succeed? I haven't had a great work out for a while. Something is working since I'm sweating a whole lot. These people actually know what they are TALKING ABOUT!!! What are you guys waiting for? This place will give you a total body workout in less than an hr. You guys will be seeing me there a lot.
